Doubt had a little sister who looked a lot like her, and after Doubt had been suddenly eradicated/killed off she became to be known as Little Doubt. As Little Doubt grew, she began to make all the mistakes that all growing boys and girls do: it all really started to get serious when she started hanging around with the wrong crowd: a bunch of overly arrogant 'Neo- Positivists'. The seriousness wasn't necessarily that they were a bad crowd; in truth the graveness was only the fact that she had been drawn to them in the first place. It was as much a case of the talk that too often occurs when these things happen; people would often chant "it sounds like the Neo Positivists are in Little Doubt now…no wonder they're so arrogant!"
In essence, they were, or at least should have been literary blood rivals. The graveness really came after she left the positivists; it had been grave for both parties concerned, after she left the neo-positivists Little Doubt began to wander and wonder, and would often delve into areas where none of her kind had ever dared, such as visiting a number of different churches and the like, as well as hanging around with the stoutly religious, (which had always remained the domain of sisters Hope and Faith; that is until they were openly challenged by Doubt before she was mysteriously murdered.) Even 'Reason and the Romantics' had chosen to keep their distance from them. There were many that saw this as a sign. 'The many' were led by Chaos who had long been waiting his opportunity.
Hope and Faith were almost always together; and neither really strayed far from the churches and religious circles. However, Faith was old, and often times blind, and it was not uncommon for Faith to be misguided. It was probably because of this that Doubt had originally challenged her, there was talk of Reason doing the same; but Reason was said to have been waiting for Doubt to set in, to weaken Faith before making his own move.
Despite her age, Faith was beautiful, as was Hope- it had been claimed that many had gone to war because of Faith alone. Whilst others had searched far and wide for Faith- not just because of her beauty but because she had been 'close' to a large number of men...and women, she was also a great companion and comfort in times of trouble. Despite all this Faith was at times rather confusing.
Not usually easily influenced, Little Doubt seemed to go about with her guard down and her head held high. That is until a chance meeting with the younger brother of her elder sister's rival: Reason. Reason was a charming young man. He spoke eloquently and at great length on a number of subjects. He was often seen as the 'leader' of the Positivists and Romantics; that is to say the old positivists. Alas, a war was waged in a strange and distant land and Reason was the first of many casualties. (Was faith the cause of this war too?)
With no Reason the positivists began to argue with less and less zeal to the extent that they were beginning to unravel. It made them realise that Reason had been their core.
Before leaving for war, Reason had requested that they keep an eye on his younger brother - especially if anything should happen to Reason. The positivists remembered this and attempted to reach out to him; believing that perhaps, he could become their new leader; having already gone through Loyalty, Liberty, Justice, and even Truth (Truth seemed like a sound contender, but he was too ambivalent/ambiguous on the majority of the major issues )- Reason had often talked of him as having great strengths, similar to his own. However, Little Reason (as he had recently become known) rebelled against all that Reason stood for; placing blame with the positivists who remained whilst Reason and his lover, Prudence, had gone off to war.
Without realising it, both Little Reason and Little Doubt were searching. They walked together 'aimlessly' everywhere. They even chanced down Memory Lane and ran into Familiarity briefly; well, as briefly as it was possible to run into Familiarity. Neither of them had wanted to stay with Familiarity for long, if anything, without openly acknowledging it, they had really wanted to forget.
On their travels, they bumped into Obscurity. No one had 'officially seen or heard from Obscurity for a long time.' But this wasn't really true, Obscurity was always lurking around. She was sad and withering away to the point that she seemed to be diminishing. Her story was a sad and an all too familiar one; in her heyday she was everywhere and seen with everyone, but she fell in with the wrong crowd and was drained by Mediocrity. In fact, because of the intensity of the relationship people would often say that Obscurity would invariably pass wherever Mediocrity had been
All Little Reason and Little Doubt wanted was a sense of wholeness; but their union was an unnatural one, frowned upon by all. They knew that to thrive they had to separate and turn on each other. The more they would do this the stronger they would each become. It had to be whole-hearted and real; symbiotic but without acknowledging it. They turned to one of the elders: Ignorance.
Ignorance had a twin brother; however, no one had ever seen the two of them together so despite Ignorance's best appeals Ignorance and Bliss were considered one and the same.
Suspicion read between the lines and wasn't satisfied. Suspicion turned to paranoia; who had just arrived- Paranoia thought something was up too, but couldn't quite place it.
In essence, Innocence was lost.
Diversity looked different. Destiny had been awaiting them.
Choas and Confusion Confusion was a bad guest, never knew when to leave and would often arrive uninvited.
Envy
Fate was expected. Fate was tempted.
