MUGS

Most, if not all, of us have at some point conversed with someone whilst making/drinking tea or coffee at work. Sometimes it’s polite enquiries and small talk with someone you see every day for many years…but don’t know their names and it’s far too late to ask now. Other times it’s a pre-arranged time and place to have a natter about weekend events, gossip or ‘shooting the shit’; or a break from a moaning boss and airing your frustrations with a kindred spirit. There are dialogues, discourses and diatribes that occur all the time, sometimes you’re involved other times it’s just heard in earshot. I’m attempting a project in which the office kitchen/coffee-tea break area of a large company with many varied characters/employees plays a prominent role. It is the site/backdrop to various independent and interchangeable characters and conversations; the mundane, the superfluous, the entertaining, coarse, crude, caustic, humorous and all in between. What I’m after comrades is collaborators! I’d love to have input from as many people as possible. You can give me whatever you want; scripted conversations (he said, she said, he said etc.), the jists of conversations (two grannies talking about their diets, women talking about relationships etc.), characters, character traits, themes. Whatever you want. They can be contrived or genuine, short or long. I’ll be extremely grateful.
